First the dogs were bred in Japan and they were mainly bred for hunting. They are also the dogs for fighting and guarding. The dog was trained to hunt a bear, a deer and a wild boar. The man who proposed to raise that breed was the Prefecture of the island of Honshu. A good akita breeder will be a breeder that other breeders recomend.
