Akitas tend to be dog-aggressive and aloof with strangers. Improper socialization may also result in your dog showing suspiciousness even toward your family members, to say nothing of guests. Not infrequently, Akita dogs express dislike toward children. A well trained Akita will be good with your kids, but still may retain a grudge against alien children, which is likely to get you into a lot of trouble. As for their general appearance, Akita dogs are large, standing 25-28 inches tall at the withers and weighing 75-120 lbs. Akita Inu comes in several colors: Fawn, White, Brindle, Seasame and Red. American Akitas can also have other color permutations. These dogs have muscled bodies, heavy head with small pointed ears and almond-shaped eyes. Paws feature webbings, which contribute to the dog’s knack for swimming. The tail is curled over the back and held sideways.
