The dog’s head is massive; the skull is flat and broad. The neck is muscular, and relatively short. Double-coated, Akita dogs have a short, dense undercoat, and a straight, medium-sized outer coat. Akitas weigh about 75-120 pounds, and stand at 26-28 inches at the shoulder.
