Akitas are bred in a variety of colors and markings, including white, brindle, and pinto. Except for the white, all of them have dark area around the muzzle. Their character is calm and loyal, to the members of the family they are extremely friendly and kind, but what concerns the strangers these dogs may be aggressive.

That is a breed of working dogs that has been found in the mountains of northern Japan and in 1931 the Japanese government announced that breed a national treasure. These are very powerful, muscular dogs with a broad head with rigid, rather small pointed ears, and a large curved tail carried over the back or curled against the flank.
